In the issue of March 2025 by Solar B2BAndrea Da Re, Commercial Director of Contact Italia, recounted the company's important evolution with the acquisition of the brand and patents of GB Solar, a company specialising in mounting systems for photovoltaic systems on flat surfaces.

A strategic union for solid growth

It all started on 28 October 2024when Contact Italia announced its intention to acquire GB Solar. Today, this transaction is almost completely finalised, leading to a merger of sales networks of the two entities. 'We have created one solid and operational team throughout the country,' says Andrea Da Re.

The acquisition represents a strategic move that strengthens Contact Italia in a rapidly evolving sector. "The demand for clean energy is increasingly pressing," reads the official press release, "and this transaction allows us to better respond to the needs of installers."

GB Solar, established in 2009, quickly gained a solid reputation due to the quality of its mounting solutions for photovoltaic systems. However, the property decided to exit the market due to the need to substantial investment in research and development. Thanks to Contact Italia, its solutions will continue to be developed and distributed on a larger scale.

The impact of integration

The entry of GB Solar into Contact Italia has not only expanded the offer, but also made it possible to strengthening the commercial network. From January 2025, the sales team, consisting of 30 professionals, offers the entire Contact Italia catalogue, including GB Solar branded solutions. "Our immediate focus is to train the sales network and update customers on the new organisational set-up," emphasises Da Re.

GB Solar will continue to exist as strategic brandingwith particular attention to ballasted solutions. "We want to provide intelligent and secure solutions, optimising the offer according to the specificities of distribution."

A future of innovation

The acquisition will also lead to an increase in production capacity. Production will be centralised at the new plant in Jescewith a dedicated research and development office and laboratories for advanced testing. In addition, GB Solar will benefit from three logistics centres already active in Italy.

On a commercial level, the synergy between the two realities will enable strengthen presence with distributors and installers: currently Contact Italia collaborates with approx. 80 distributors and 350 installers. Expanding the offer will make it even more attractive to the market.

New products and growth strategies

The integration of Contact Italia and GB Solar has also led to the expansion of the product range. Among the most notable innovations

  • Estòa stable, lightweight and easy-to-install solution, ideal for flat roofs with 10° orientation.
  • Big Footdesigned for large modules installed vertically on flat roofs or for ground-mounted systems.
  • Sthenosa versatile system with adjustable inclinations (5°, 10°, 15°), which improves windtightness and optimises installation time and costs.

In 2024GB Solar recorded a tripled sales volume compared to the previous year, and for the 2025 Contact Italia provides for a +30% growth in the GB Solar segment. Overall, the estimated revenues for the group in 2025 amount to EUR 50 million.

The photovoltaic market in Italy

The Italian photovoltaic industry will continue to grow in 2025, albeit at a slower pace than in the last three years. The greatest opportunities will be concentrated in the segments commercial, industrial and utility scale. However, some critical issues remain, including the need to streamline authorisation processes and ensure stability in the government incentives.

In this context, the acquisition of GB Solar enables Contact Italia to consolidate its position and face new challenges with a innovative and sustainable approach. "We look to the future with the aim of offering increasingly advanced solutions aligned to market needs," Da Re concludes.

Conclusion

The acquisition of GB Solar by Contact Italia marks a fundamental step for the company, strengthening its position in the market for mounting structures for photovoltaic systems. The integration between the two companies guarantees greater capillarity, a broader product portfolio and even more structured technical support for installers and distributors.

Thanks to this synergy, Contact Italia is a benchmark for the industry, focusing on innovation, quality and reliability. The challenges of the future will require increasingly efficient and sustainable solutions, and Contact Italia is ready to respond with a range of cutting-edge products and a service that is increasingly geared to the needs of the market.
